Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory-
Odours, when violets die,
Live within the sense they quicken.

Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

stumbled upon a beautiful poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley.
A pity the poet's not half as beautiful as his poems are..
one bastard figure.

she now lies under the frangipani trees along with the ranks of people who became or will become a remote name in family ancestries..
there is a sense of finality to see and know that she is laid to rest in a undisturbed place. maybe that is why having access to the remains of a loved one is so important to the grieving, which unfortunately is not the case for everyone.
i dun like the idea of deifying the departed. it's sort of like turning her into a puppet god/spirit watever.. an object to worship in order to ask for/gain something in return. i dun like the way she is reduced to such a role. it so depreciates the memory of her person. k i might not be making alot of sense but that's just out of the top of wat i feel. customs takes on different meanings with differing intentions.

hmmm..
i've always puzzled over putting on the full armour of God (eph 5:10-17)
been thr a couple of sermons and bible studies but still quite hazy over it..
until i came across an interpretation by edmund chan:

a closer look at Ephesians 6"10-18 reveals five strategic schemes Satan uses to attach the disciples of Christ: Deception, Corruption, Opposition, Intimidation, discouragement
the armour of God is God's powerful counter measures against Satan's schemens. notice the centrality of Truth in God's counter measures:

1. Satan attacks through Deception
He is the father of lies. God's counter is the 'belt of truth' (v14). this is a commitment to know the truth. knowing the truth exposes Satan's deception and nullifies it.

2. Satan arracks through corruption
he tempts us to sin. God's counter is the 'breastplate of righteousness' (v14). this is the commitment to live out the truth. living out the truth in righteousness arrests Satan's corruption and grants us victory.

3. Satan attacks through opposition.
he opposes the truth (2 corithians 4:4) God's counter is the 'sandal of readiness' (v15) this is a commitment to advance the truth. advancing the truth is preaching and evangelism strengthens us and weakens Satan's opposition.

4. Satan attacks through intimidation
he is the accuser of the brethen. God's counter is the 'sheidl of faith' (v16). this is a commitment to believe the truth. believing the truth shields us againast Satan's intimidation adn nullifies it

5. Satan attacks through discouragement
he is the destroyer of hie. God's counter is the 'helmet of salvation' (v17). this is a commitment to hold fast to the truth. holding fast to the truth grants us hope that dispels Satan's discouragement.

wherein lies the hope of our salvation? in his word! it is the 'sword of the spirit' (v17). truth, based on God's word, fuels our prayers (v18) and secures our victory.
the core of this truth is our position and identity in christ, brilliantly expounded by Paul in Ephesians 1-3. therein lies our victory!

(taken from edmund chan's book 'growing deep in God')

i have learnt much and been encouraged by several sisters' journals of their walk with God, published on blogs and etc.. thank them for sharing and thank God for working in their lives!
